Respondus LockDown Browser for iPad
iPadOS 17.6+ has an issue that can crash older versions of LockDown Browser for iPad. We have updated the LockDown Browser app (version 12.2) to work around this issue, and we recommend that users upgrade to this version. Go to the app store on the iPad, search for “LockDown Browser” and select the update option. The direct link is: LockDown Browser
Starting in the summer of 2024, all LockDown Browser quizzes that do not require a webcam are able to be taken on an iPad. Instructors may choose to allow iPad testing for webcam quizzes, speak with your instructor to find out if you can take a quiz on an iPad or not.
Installing the LockDown Browser
Click Here or search the App Store for LockDown Browser
Download and install the app
Open the app to ensure it installed correctly, but no further action is required
You do NOT need to select your institution in the app!
Taking a Quiz
Open Brightspace in a browser on the iPad (Safari, Chrome, Firefox, etc.)
Navigate to the quiz you need to take
Click on Launch LockDown Browser at the bottom of the page
Tap on Open when prompted top open in LockDown
Tap Yes when prompted to confirm app self-lock
Tap Start Quiz! at the bottom of the page
Once the quiz loads you may need to change tabs from External Link to Quiz
Complete the quiz as normal and submit when done.
If you need to exit early, click on the red X at the top of the screen.
