iPhone Photos and Videos
Newer versions of iOS have changed the file formats used for photos and videos by default. These new formats are more efficient for storage, but they are less compatible and may cause issues. As of the time of writing, Brightspace does not support these new file formats directly. This article will offer a few solutions to this problem.
Preventative - Changing Settings
Open the Settings app on your iOS device
Scroll down and tap on the Camera menu entry
Tap on the Formats menu entry
Tap on the Most Compatible option
Take photos and videos, then upload them directly to Brightspace
Conversion - On-Device
Open the Photos app on your iOS device
Open the photo or video you need to upload
Tap on the Share button
Tap on the Options button at the top of the Share Card
Tap on Most Compatible under the Format section
Tap on Done
Tap on Save to Files towards the bottom of the Share Card
Location may vary depending on settings and device/iOS version
Save the file to a location on your device or iCloud storage if available
Make note of where you saved the file, you’ll need to find it to upload it.
When uploading to Brightspace, select Choose File instead of Photo Library
Find and select the file saved in Step 8
