Brightspace offers a mobile app for iOS and Android devices, named Pulse. The Pulse app can help you stay connected and on track with your courses in Brightspace. It provides an overview of course calendars, readings, assignments, evaluations, grades, and announcements. Pulse can help you make better decisions about how to handle workload, when to submit assignments, and when to prepare for tests. Real-time notifications can let you know when assignments and grades are added or made available to you.

App Features

  • In-App browser to view content and submit assignments, quizzes, and discussions

    • Not all content will be compatible with the in-app browser, and may not be mobile-friendly.

Navigating the App

After downloading the app, it’s time to start using it:

  1. Launch Pulse and tap Get Started:

  2. Search for Kennebec Valley Community College and select it from the list

  3. Select the blue KVCC button

  4. Sign in using your KVCC Email address and password (see Accessing Brightspace for more information)

  5. When asked to stay signed in, select Yes

You’re now signed in and will be brought to the main screen of the Pulse app. From the main screen you can navigate to your courses, check notifications, use the calendar, and change settings.

Main Screen

  • Courses

    • In the Courses tab in the Main Screen you can scroll through and access your courses.

    • Scroll down the list then tap on the course you’d like to see.

  • Notifications

    • At the bottom of the screen, tap on the Notifications tab with the bell icon

  • Calendar

    • At the bottom of the screen, tap on the Upcoming Tab

  • Settings

    • Tap on the Maine Community College System logo in the top-left of the screen to open the side-menu

    • Tap on Settings

    • Adjust settings to your liking

Course View

  • When you’re viewing a course, you’ll be presented with a two-tab window showing the Content from the course as well as access to see your grades.

  • Tap on Module names to browse the course

  • Tap on Content, Assignments, Quizzes, and Discussions to be brought to the web version of Brightspace inside the app where you can complete most tasks

  • To access the course’s Home Page, tap on the 3-dot-menu in the top-right of the course page, then select Launch Course Homepage
