This page outlines what can be found on the Content page within a course.

Module List

The Module List shows a list of all the modules in the course. Instructors may organize their modules in various ways but most often they’ll be organized by textbook chapters or weeks in the semester. Above the Module List you’ll find the Course Syllabus, any Bookmarks you’ve saved, and a Course Schedule. At the top of the Module List is a Table of Contents. In the Table of Contents you’ll find an overview of all the modules as well as a Course Progress Bar much like the Module Progress Bar, except it shows how much of all the modules you’ve completed.

Module Introduction

This is where your instructor will introduce the module, outline its content, and provide any relevant instructions for the module. This area may also contain reading materials, vocabulary, links, and more.

Module Progress Bar

This will show you how much of the module you’ve completed. Simply opening and viewing content links and webpages will mark them as completed. Quizzes and Assignments need to be done before they are marked as completed.

Some instructors may use a feature called Conditional Release, which hides certain content, assignments, and quizzes until some condition is met. These hidden topics will not show up in the Module Progress Bar until they have been revealed or unlocked.

For example in Brightspace 101’s Module #4 there is a discussion board and quiz that are hidden until other parts in the module have been completed. Additionally, the Brightspace 101 Final Quiz is hidden until Module #4 has been completed.

List of Topics in Module

This is where you’ll find links to textbooks, webpages, articles, videos, etc. You will also find links to assignments, discussion boards, and quizzes here. Assignments, discussion boards, and quizzes can also be accessed directly from the navigation bar. Some topics will have an introduction or description visible on this page. Topic descriptions may contain instructions or other important information so it’s important to pay attention to them.
