Using Copyleaks

The Maine Community College System is in the middle of transitioning plagiarism detection tools. We are switching from TurnItIn (by Ouriginal, formerly known as Urkund) to Copyleaks in July 2024. This page is a work in progress and being updated continually, please check back later for more comprehensive instructions.

The Maine Community College System has implemented a new plagiarism detection utility named Copyleaks. This article will show you how Copyleaks works and how to use its various features. For further assistance please contact the BoLTS team.

Using Copyleaks

There are two main ways to submit work to Copyleaks for plagiarism detection: manual direct upload, and assignment-based. A manual direct upload is great for one-off situations where you may suspect plagiarism after the assignment has been submitted, you can upload one (or more) documents at a time to Copyleaks to have it analyze on-demand. Assignment-based detection is great for when you just want everything to be automatically taken care of. Using this method, every students' assignment is submitted immediately to Copyleaks after they upload the file, and you can view results at your leisure in the dashboard.
